How to Exercise at Home Without Equipment

Performing physical activities regularly is important in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Engaging in sports as a hobby or going to the gym are some forms of exercise anyone could take on. Unfortunately, some people find it hard to make time for exercise as they may be too busy raising their kids, running a business, or working at the office.

For some people, purchasing gym equipment for their personal use could be quite costly. It is also a fact that those who can afford to buy them sometimes get too lazy to use the equipment at all. The good news is, it is possible to exercise at home without equipment.

Anyone who would take on the challenge of working out at home must be committed and disciplined to be able to attain set goals. The following are some suggestions on how anyone could exercise at home without equipment:

1. Dress accordingly. If you are a housewife who does the cooking and the cleaning, take your children to and from school, the laundry and so on, it would help if you wear clothes suitable for working out the whole day. This way, you could easily do some exercises while the stew is cooking or while the laundry is not yet finished. Every minute of exercise go a long way. Stretch while the baby is napping and jog while walking your dog. Wearing your workout clothes will remind you of your resolve to exercise.

2. Be more active. Shed more calories by altering some of your habits. For example, use the stairs instead of the elevators when shopping or at the office. Walk instead of taking the car if your destination is not far. It also helps you save fuel in the process. If you have stairs at home, you will burn more calories if you run it.

3. Decide on exercise options and stick to them. Determine which areas of your body you wish to work on and consult a fitness expert on the specific exercises that you need. Come up with a plan on the number of lunges, sit-ups, push-ups, and minutes or hours of jogging you need. Stick to your program. As time goes by, you could adjust it to accommodate more exercises.

4. Engage your kids in exercises. Exercising at home could be a fun activity for the whole family. On weekend mornings, you could jog with the kids to the park or play ball or soccer in your garden. For younger kids, dad could try doing push ups while the children ride on their backs. Hearing your children's laughter in the background while doing your workouts is bound to be fun.

Another option for busy parents who want to exercise at home without equipment is to be more active in outdoor chores and activities. Cleaning the yard with your kids is a good physical activity, as well as biking, running, and trekking. On holidays, you could even try taking your family camping.

Now if your children are still very young, you could try making a deal with your neighbors who may also want to do exercises. Offer to baby-sit for them in exchange for the same favor.
