Summer Day Camp Port Perry Has To Offer Your Child

By Elaine Guthrie

The end of the school year is fast approaching and you are at a loss as to what to do with your child. The summer day camp Port Perry programs have to offer may be a great solution and an answer to your prayers. The Port Perry, ON venues can provide all of your youngsters with a fun and educational curriculum for several weeks during their break from school.

And your youngster does not have to spend the night if he is not ready. All you need to do is drop him off early in the morning and then pick him up later in the day. He will have numerous opportunities to make new friends and gain the independence necessary to attend an over-night venue when he gets older.

Choose one that fits the age range of your child. Some are geared to preschoolers while others cater to elementary-age youngsters. Some are even focused on the junior high and high school crowd. Be sure not to place your youngster with a younger group as he will feel out of place. And if the other campers are older, he may not be able to keep up with their activities.

Many of these unique camps have themes such as martial arts, music, dance, gymnastics, boxing, sports, math and even chess. Select the type you know your child will love and maybe even learn something from. Other activities offered could include arts and crafts, movies and games, exercise, swimming, outdoor games, and more.

The facilities will provide lists of the supplies and equipment needed for the duration of the program. Some of these would include an extra set of clothes, towels, snacks, sunscreen, and swim shoes. Meals are often provided by the establishment but if they are not, just pack your child a nutritious lunch with plenty of extra beverages. Remember, your little one will be spending lots of time outdoors and will need to stay hydrated as much as possible.

Always sign up as soon as possible as there may be limited space. You may even be offered discounts for early registration or for signing up more than one attendee. This will be of great financial value, especially if your many children can attend together. They can watch out for each other and bond even more through this experience.

And, on the plus side, parents will gain some extra time to spend doing what they would like to do. This may mean taking yoga courses, learning new skills, making appointments at the hairdresser or nail salon, attending classes or self-improvement courses, working on the yard, engaging in DIY projects, or even just staying home and catching up on projects that need to be done.

Attending these venues is a constructive manner for your younger set to learn new skills and make many new friends. Every day they will come home and tell you stories of their happy times and the many activities they participate in. They will rapidly become much more mature and independent as the school break progresses.
